Welcome to the webpage for our project focused on the impacts of AI art generators on the meanings and value of art.

Project Description:
Generators using artificial neural networks have gained the capacity to create images and music from scratch, based on textual natural language input. This technology has become widely available, thus increasing access to the means of making art. This project asks how the increased accessibility of making art through AI technologies changes the cultural meaning of “Art.”

Nell Haynes and Mark Cartwright are currently working on a project combining anthropology and computer science that looks at how AI image and music generators have an impact on the "meanings and values" associated with art. As part of this, we are surveying visual artists, musicians, AI generator users, and developers of AI technology. These are not necessarily mutually exclusive groups, but please pick the one that aligns most with your experience. If you've never used an AI generator for art (whether visual or audio), but have thoughts on them, you can still take the survey. Please feel free to pass this on to anyone who might be interested in sharing their thoughts on the subject.

We would love your input!
